... which has already started the preparations in 2017.

Collalbo in Italy is considered the Mekka of speed skating and has hosted twice the European Championship in the past. The first time was in 2007, when on the icerink the young Dutch athlete Sven Kramer, at that time only 21 years of age, won his first gold medal on all four distances. The best skaters of Europe returned then in 2011 to challenge eachother.
Back in the 90’s Renon has been the setting for several World Cups.
Renon has a long tradition on an international level regarding speed skating competitions. Already in the 1990’s several World Cups men and ladies (1990, 1991, 1992, 1999) took place on the icering of Collalbo and then again in 2004 and in 2006. Also Junor World Cup have been helt here in 2009, 2010 and 2012. In February of 2014 the Arena Ritten has beenthe setting for the finals of the Junior World Cup.

The allround European Championship of speed skating men are helt since 127 years, since 1981. Ladies since 1970. Since 1990 the always take place in the same location. The distances for men competitions are 500, 1,500, 5,000, and 10,000 meters. For ladies 500, 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 meters.
